Say the word. Hear how each sound went.
A child taps the mic, says “rabbit”, and in a few seconds sees a score, which sound slipped, what it sounded like instead, and a tip an SLP would actually give. Every attempt is logged by sound, so practice between sessions finally adds up to something you can see.

How it works
Three steps, no setup
- 01
Pick a sound and a word
R, S, TH, L and 19 more, with the words kids actually practice, sorted by position and difficulty.
- 02
Tap, say it, tap again
Works on a phone, tablet, Chromebook or laptop. Nothing to download and no app store.
- 03
Score, breakdown, tip
A number, then the part that matters: which sound slipped, what it sounded like, and what to try next time.
What you get
Our own engine, ArticScore
Scoring runs on ArticScore, the engine we built and fine-tuned on children’s speech. When a sound slips, it names what it heard instead.
Sound-by-sound, not just a number
Each sound in the word gets its own score and note. “Heard /w/ instead of /r/” tells a parent exactly what to listen for.
Tips in plain language
Cues written the way an SLP says them to a child: where the tongue goes, what to think about, what to try.
Logged by sound
Every attempt lands in the progress charts: accuracy by target sound and position, best and recent scores, streaks.
Built for kids’ voices
Tuned for children rather than adult language learners, with a friendly result screen instead of a spreadsheet.
Private by design
Audio is scored and discarded unless a guardian opts in to keep it. Kids are never asked for anything but a first name.
Who it's for
Parents
Practice between sessions that tells you how it went. No more guessing whether the /r/ was good enough.
SLPs
Assign a sound, let the child practise at home, and open the chart on Monday instead of asking how the week went.
Teachers
One tap to record, a few seconds to score. Holds up on a Chromebook, a projector or a Zoom share.
Say the word. Find out how the sound went.
Kids record a word and get a score in seconds: not just a number, but which sound slipped, what it sounded like instead, and a tip for the next try. It is the closest thing to having an SLP in the room for every practice word.

Questions
How accurate is the scoring?
Every attempt is scored by ArticScore, our own engine, fine-tuned on children’s speech. We publish how its scores compare with expert human listeners, including where it falls short, at /articscore/benchmark. It is a practice tool, not a diagnosis, and it is designed to be read alongside an SLP’s judgement.
Which sounds does it cover?
All 23 English consonant sounds kids work on in therapy, including /r/, /s/, /l/, /th/, /sh/, /ch/ and /zh/, in initial, medial and final position, with over 9,200 practice words sorted by difficulty.
Does it work on an iPad or phone?
Yes. Recording works in Safari on iPhone and iPad and in Chrome on Android, Chromebooks and laptops. There is nothing to install.
Is it free?
Every account gets 100 free scoring attempts a month, no card required. Pro includes 5,000 attempts a month along with 20 personalised stories and 3 student profiles.
What happens to my child’s recordings?
Audio is sent for scoring and then discarded. Recordings are only kept when a parent or guardian explicitly opts in, and can be deleted at any time.
