Ultimate SLP Alternatives for Speech Therapy

The verdict, up front

Choose SLP Now if you need data and planning, Boom Cards for the biggest library, The Digital SLP for curated no-print activities, Everyday Speech for social skills, and SpeechTherapyMagic if you mostly work on speech sounds and want each spoken word scored ($9.99/month or $79.99/year).

Ultimate SLP ($12.95/month or $139.92/year) is a strong library for one flat fee. People look elsewhere for three reasons: it describes no data tracking, it gives no feedback on how a word was said, and some want printables or a structured curriculum instead.

We build SpeechTherapyMagic and are not affiliated with any other product here. Prices were checked on each vendor’s own site in October 2026.

The five alternatives, reviewed

1

SpeechTherapyMagic

Best for: Speech-sound practice that scores each word, for small caseloads and home practice

A browser-based speech-practice platform: games where the child says the word and gets a score out of 100 with a score for each sound in it, 9,200+ practice words with pictures across all 40 English sounds (24 consonants, 11 vowels, 5 diphthongs) and 30 consonant blends, by word position, printable worksheets, a deck builder (Magic Studio), and progress saved by sound and word position.

Pricing: A 7-day free trial with no card needed, then $9.99/month or $79.99/year ($6.67/month billed yearly). There is no free plan. 3 student profiles included; extra students are $4.99/month each, up to 10 in total.

What works

  • Scores every spoken attempt automatically, so practice between sessions still produces data
  • Runs in any modern browser: Chromebook, iPad, Android tablet, laptop or phone
  • A 7-day trial of everything with no card, then one plan with nothing to buy per activity
  • Build your own interactive decks in Magic Studio and share them by link

What to watch out for

  • A much smaller library than the big materials sites, and speech-sound first
  • 3 students included; extras cost $4.99/month each and the cap is 10, so it is not built for a school caseload
  • The score is practice feedback, not an assessment: it is not validated on disordered child speech and does not detect distortions
  • Needs a microphone, a fairly quiet room and an internet connection. No offline mode
2

SLP Now

Best for: Planning, data collection and Medicaid notes alongside materials

A membership that pairs a library of mostly printable therapy materials with a therapy planner, real-time session data, auto-generated progress graphs, a goal bank and Medicaid billing summaries.

Pricing: $29/month or $249/year, with a 14-day free trial and no card required. Group and district pricing by quote.

What works

  • The strongest caseload-management tools on this list: plans, session data, progress graphs and billing notes
  • 6,000+ therapy materials and 100+ thematic units, per its pricing page
  • Unlimited students during the trial and on the membership

What to watch out for

  • Its help center says most materials are PDFs, so much of it is print-first rather than interactive
  • At $249 a year it costs more than Ultimate SLP ($139.92) or any individual Boom tier
  • No feedback on how a word was said; data is what you enter
3

Boom Cards

Best for: The largest library of interactive decks, for every subject

A platform for self-checking interactive decks written by independent authors. A membership unlocks the platform and reports; the decks themselves are bought separately in the Boom Store with Points, though some are free.

Pricing: Free Limited tier (up to 5 students); Core $29.99/year (up to 30 students, reports); Premium $49.99/year or $6.99/month (up to 150 students); Publisher $69.99/year to sell. Decks cost extra.

What works

  • Boom says it has more than 500,000 decks across every subject and grade
  • Runs in browsers and on iOS, Android and Kindle Fire apps
  • Boom Studio lets you build, and on Publisher sell, your own decks

What to watch out for

  • The membership does not include the decks, so the real cost depends on what you buy
  • Needs an internet connection; voice memos are not saved and instructors cannot hear them
  • FastPlay links do not record student data
4

The Digital SLP

Best for: Curated no-print activities for PreK–8 school caseloads

A membership of web-based interactive activities, digital games and supplemental homework sheets, covering articulation, fluency, language, phonology and social skills for PreK through 8th grade. It runs on its own web platform.

Pricing: $35/month, $89/quarter or $329/year, with a 30-day free trial (the checkout takes a card). District quotes available.

What works

  • Built for school-based and teletherapy SLPs, with language as its largest area
  • QuickLinks share an activity with a family for home practice (5 to 50 a month by plan)
  • Works on an iPad, computer or SMART Board

What to watch out for

  • At $329 a year, one of the pricier individual plans for a materials library
  • No data tracking yet: its caseload planner is in beta and due in fall 2026
  • No feedback on how a word was said
5

Everyday Speech

Best for: A full social-emotional learning curriculum built on video modelling

A browser-based social skills curriculum for PreK–12: over 1,000 video modelling lessons, 800+ ready-to-teach sessions, web games and printable worksheets, with pre and post assessments and progress tracking.

Pricing: $599.99/year per educator, or $69.99/month ($839.88 a year). 30-day free trial. School and district pricing by quote.

What works

  • The deepest social-skills curriculum here, from emotional recognition to vocational skills
  • Pre and post assessments, session planning and progress tracking
  • Students need no logins; it runs in the browser

What to watch out for

  • Priced for schools: no home or caregiver discount, and no account sharing
  • Social-emotional only, so no articulation practice
  • Its iPad app is no longer supported; use the browser

  • Boom's membership does not include decks. Its Premium tier is $49.99/year and Publisher $69.99/year.

How we compared these

Each product was checked on the same questions: what a year costs for a real caseload, what is included without buying more, whether it records student data, whether it gives any feedback on a spoken word, and what devices it runs on. Prices came from each vendor’s own pricing, sign-up or help pages in October 2026.

We build SpeechTherapyMagic, so read our entry with that in mind. The drawbacks under it are real, and the full limits are on the pricing page. For a direct comparison see SpeechTherapyMagic vs Ultimate SLP.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best alternative to Ultimate SLP?
It depends on what Ultimate SLP is missing for you. For planning, session data and progress graphs, SLP Now. For the biggest deck library, Boom Cards. For curated no-print activities for PreK–8, The Digital SLP. For a social-skills curriculum, Everyday Speech. For speech-sound practice that scores each word, SpeechTherapyMagic.
Boom Cards or Ultimate SLP: which is better?
Ultimate SLP is one flat fee ($12.95/month or $139.92/year) for its whole library. Boom's membership ($29.99 to $69.99 a year for individuals) unlocks the platform and reports, but decks are bought separately with Points, so the real cost depends on your buying. Boom's library is far larger (it claims 500,000+ decks across every subject); Ultimate SLP's is speech-specific and needs no shopping.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Ultimate SLP?
For one child or a small caseload, SpeechTherapyMagic is $79.99 a year for up to 3 students, against $139.92 for Ultimate SLP. Boom's Core tier is $29.99 a year, but decks cost extra. For a full caseload Ultimate SLP is hard to beat, because it charges no per-student fee.
Which Ultimate SLP alternative tracks student data?
SLP Now has the fullest data tools here: real-time session data, auto-generated progress graphs and Medicaid-ready notes. Boom's paid tiers include reports. Everyday Speech has pre and post assessments. SpeechTherapyMagic saves each scored attempt by sound automatically. The Digital SLP's data tools are still in beta.
Are these prices current?
Every price was read off the vendor's own site in October 2026. Boom shows its prices as images, so we transcribed them. Check the vendor's page before you buy.
