The 7 picks, reviewed

1

Boom Learning (Boom Cards)

Best for: the biggest library of ready-made interactive decks

Self-checking digital task cards that play in a browser, with SLP-made decks for articulation, language and social skills. Students can play by a FastPlay link during a session or be assigned decks.

Price
Free Limited account (5 students, 5-day FastPlay pins); Core $29.99/year; Premium $6.99/month or $49.99/year; decks bought separately. School plans are quote-only.
Platform
Web browser plus Boom's tablet apps. Needs an internet connection.

Honest limitation: The membership does not include the decks, and progress reports are a paid feature, so the real cost is the platform plus every deck you buy.

2

Ultimate SLP

Best for: an all-in library of screen games and flashcards for one flat fee

A web library of interactive games and real-photo flashcard decks for articulation, language and social skills, preschool to high school, with games for up to 6 players.

Price
$12.95/month or $139.92/year, with a 14-day free trial. Group subscriptions are quoted by email.
Platform
Web browser.

Honest limitation: A materials library, not a data system: there is no built-in student progress tracking, and nothing listens to the child's speech.

3

Speech Therapy MagicOur product

Best for: speaking games that score each word and log it, plus social-skills games

Social Spark, a social-skills game in Speech Therapy Magic

Browser games for articulation, vocabulary, listening and social communication. In the speech-sound games the child says each word into the microphone and it is scored and saved to their profile. Social Spark and Social Scenes cover social skills. In Magic Studio you build your own interactive decks and share them by a 6-digit PIN, so a student joins from their own device with no account.

Price
A 7-day free trial of everything with no card needed, then $9.99/month or $79.99/year ($6.67/month billed yearly). There is no free plan.
Platform
Web browser on iPad, iPhone, Android, Chromebook, Mac and PC. No native app yet; it installs to the home screen as a web app.

What it does well

  • Data is collected for you while the child plays
  • Students join a deck by PIN, with no account or app install
  • Social-skills games alongside speech-sound games

Honest limitation: A much smaller library than Boom or Ultimate SLP, and 3 student profiles are included (extras $4.99/month each, up to 10). Scoring needs the microphone on the child's device; over a video call, judge by ear. The pronunciation score is a practice signal, not a diagnosis. It scores against a fixed set of speech sounds, so a distortion (an almost-right R, a lisped S) is not reliably told apart from a correct sound, and an adult's ear still decides. Our published benchmark shows where it falls short.

4

The Digital SLP

Best for: curated no-print activities and SMART Board use

A membership of more than 2,000 interactive no-print activities for school and teletherapy caseloads, shared with students through QuickLinks. A caseload planner is in beta.

Price
$35/month (5 QuickLinks a month), $89 per quarter (25) or $329/year (50), with a 30-day free trial in which some features are unavailable.
Platform
Web browser on any tablet, computer or SMART Board.

Honest limitation: The most expensive of the libraries here, and its planner is not fully released yet.

5

Wordwall

Best for: building your own activity from a word list in minutes

A template builder: type a target list once and flip it between match-ups, wheels, quizzes and games, then print a paper version if you want one.

Price
Basic is free (3 activities, 12 templates); Standard $7.20/month or $57.60/year; Pro $10.80/month or $86.40/year (34 templates).
Platform
Web browser.

Honest limitation: Nothing is speech-specific: you build every target yourself, and there is no speech feedback.

6

Pink Cat Games

Best for: simple reinforcer games to pair with any drill

More than 200 quick turn-taking games (Feed the Shark, Build a Monster and the like) that work as rewards around any target list.

Price
Games Subscription $49.99 per teacher per year; Teacher Tools Subscription $29.99 per year. School licences are quoted.
Platform
Web browser.

Honest limitation: Reinforcers only: the games carry no speech content of their own. It is not free, despite its reputation.

7

Everyday Speech

Best for: a full social-skills curriculum for groups

Video modelling, games and worksheets organised into sequenced social-communication units for preschool to high school, with pre and post assessments.

Price
$599.99 per user per year, or $839.88 a year billed monthly, with a 30-day free trial. School and district pricing is quoted.
Platform
Web browser.

Honest limitation: By far the most expensive individual plan here, and it covers social skills only.

What makes a good teletherapy activity

Count productions, not minutes of fun. The best teletherapy games give the child a turn after every target word, so a ten-minute game can hold sixty or more productions. Long animations between turns look great and cost you practice.

Check how the student joins. Screen-sharing your own browser works with anything; giving the child control needs either a link they open (Boom FastPlay, Digital SLP QuickLinks, a Speech Therapy Magic deck PIN) or remote-control permission in your video platform.

How we chose

We make Speech Therapy Magic, so read our own entry with the scepticism you would give any vendor writing about itself. We placed it where we think it honestly fits for this buyer, which is not always first, and every entry, ours included, carries a real limitation.

For this guide we weighed:

  • Productions per minute: how much talking each turn produces
  • How a student joins from home (link, PIN, account)
  • Whether data is recorded, and who records it
  • Total yearly cost, including content bought on top
  • Range of goals covered: articulation, language, social skills

Prices were read off each vendor’s own pricing page or App Store listing in October 2026. Where a vendor only quotes on request or shows prices in local currency, we say so rather than print a number we could not check. Nobody paid to be listed, and there are no affiliate links on this page. Found something out of date? Tell us on the contact page.
